Introducing the Genesis Child Theme Matrix

I have fielded several questions in the StudioPress support forums where people are looking for a way to compare the various Genesis child themes. Let’s face it, there are a LOT of child themes out there. In fact I think there are way more than anyone ever realized. It is difficult to decide between the child themes available on just StudioPress, then you add in the market place, other theme shops, and a variety of free themes … it becomes a daunting task indeed.

I decided to create a child theme matrix, a method of comparing each theme against set variables. Of course the matrix can’t be perfect, there are some settings that are very powerful and unique to a given theme, like the design settings in Prose, but the most common features used across a wide variety of themes have been added to this comparison grid.

With the initial release I have 126 themes available for comparison including themes from StudioPress, the MarketPlace, Theme Garden, Theme Forest, Mojo Themes, Allure Themes, Themedy, WordPress Support Desk, appfinite, several independent developers, and a variety of free themes. I believe this is the single largest index of Genesis child themes anywhere. In addition to having a very full list of themes, I have built in several options for narrowing your theme search and sorting the themes returned. Once you have found the themes you like, you will be able to compare up to 4 at a time and then follow the link to where you can get more information about the theme and purchase/download the theme.

While this is a very extensive list, I know there may be themes available I just don’t know about. If you have themes for sale or download, then please point me to them via my contact form.

Also, I can’t guarantee the quality of the themes. At some point I might include some kind of review index with my personal opinion of the themes based on how well they conform to the Genesis child theme standard, and features offered, but for now this is purely informational. The themes exist and have these features.
